Osteoarthritis-
If your hip has been hurting you for a long time, you are not alone. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. Osteoarthritis affects approximately 27 million Americans each year. It is typically found in middle to late age adults and typically occurs gradually as the protective tissue (otherwise known as cartilage) starts wearing down. When this occurs, it will send you signals through pain and swelling of the joint. Unfortunately, osteoarthritis cannot be cured. Here’s the good news! There are many solutions that can help get you back to normal living. If you are in early stages of osteoarthritis most likely your physician will start out with conservative therapy or a hip injection. If these don’t work, most likely they will suggest getting a hip arthroscopy or a total hip replacement or arthroplasty. The goal of getting a total hip replacement is to resurface the hip joint by removing parts of the hip that are damaged and replace them with metal and plastic components.
